About Our Calculators
Are your calculators really free?
Yes! All our tools are 100% free with no hidden costs, premium tiers, paywalls, or required sign-ups. We believe financial tools should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income or background.
How accurate are your calculators?
Our calculators use industry-standard formulas that are verified by financial professionals. They provide the same results you'd get from a bank, financial advisor, or accounting software. For example, our APY calculator uses the formula: APY = (1 + r/n)^n - 1, where r is the interest rate and n is the compounding frequency.
Can I trust the results?
Absolutely. Our calculations are based on established financial mathematics. However, remember that calculators provide estimates—actual returns may vary based on fees, taxes, and market conditions. For personalized financial advice, consult a certified financial planner.
What calculators do you offer?
Currently, Finoto offers three main calculators:
- APY Calculator: Calculate your real investment returns accounting for compound interest
- Salary Converter: Convert between hourly, weekly, monthly, and annual salary rates
- Salary Change Calculator: Calculate percentage increases or decreases in compensation
We're continuously developing new tools based on user feedback.

Why don't you have ads?
We want you to focus on your calculations without distractions, data collection, or manipulation. Our goal is to provide useful tools, not to monetize your attention or sell your data to advertisers.
Understanding APY
What is APY?
APY stands for Annual Percentage Yield. It's the real rate of return on your investment over one year, accounting for compound interest. Unlike a simple interest rate, APY shows you exactly how much your money will grow.
How is APY different from interest rate?
Interest rate is the basic percentage of your principal you'll earn, without considering compounding. APY accounts for compound interest—earning "interest on your interest." When interest compounds more than once per year, APY will always be higher than the stated interest rate. For a detailed explanation, read our article: APY vs Interest Rate: What's the Difference?
Why does compounding frequency matter?
The more frequently interest compounds, the higher your APY—and the more money you make. Daily compounding is better than monthly, which is better than quarterly, which is better than annual. On a $50,000 investment at 5% interest, the difference between annual and daily compounding is about $65 per year—which multiplies over decades.
Should I compare APY or interest rate when shopping for accounts?
Always compare APY, not interest rates. APY is the only metric that accounts for compounding frequency, giving you an apples-to-apples comparison. Banks are required by law to disclose APY, so use it as your primary decision-making tool.
